Poem 0055 for Anita – ground

Posted by Stan Stewart (Sawyer) on December 29, 2010 under Stan Stewart | 3 Comments to Read

it’s been too long since
i had that sense of being
two-feet-on-the-ground
solid.

it may be that i’m too
intense for myself or
my life is occasionally
too much for this
embodied state i live in.

and thus
the unsettled me
is too often what i present to the world.

even under winter’s snow,
the ground is here.
may i find it in time
to stand firm into another year.

Must applaud you…nah, that’s too formal…hug you…for your poems again. You inspire your audience of readers…to look inside, to look outside & notice, to move, to love, to grow. Loved this one and saw so much of myself in your writing: too intense for myself (got that one down!), presenting the “unsettled me” to the world (yes, all the time), and more! Thank you! Keep standing firm, and keep writing.

[...] “(55) Ground — “It may be that I’m too intense for myself.”  That resonates with me.  “The unsettled me is too often what I present to the world.”  Again.  I often feel like I am grounded when I think things through in my head, but then I can’t follow through in real life.  So this poem fits me & makes me feel like I am in good company.  We’re on this journey together!
