What if the poet has no words?
What if the painter has no paints?
What if the crafter has no glue
And the musician, no song?
Then, what would we call “art”?
Would it be the way we decide on
What ingredients to mix together
In our meals?
Or the timing of when to open
The curtains to let the light in?
What if our whole life is an art?
Each moment a chance for
Artful creation?
What if it’s all true?

Why is it that adults put
So little importance on
Their favorite color?
There’s nothing to be
Embarrassed about.
It’s a simple attraction.
Having them is like
Having a tiny itch:
We may be able to
Analyze and learn
Much from knowing
Just why this is
So intriguing to us.
But this is as if to
Say that everything
In our lives and our
Selves
Is subject to our
Severe scrutiny.
What would happen
If we were to enjoy
Our own desire
Without judgment
and psychological
Investigation?
What if we were to
Enjoy our favorite
Color as a simple
Pleasure.
(Play with that for a while and
Wear a big, juicy, red smile.)

Entering into the forest at night,
Far from the over-lighted, packed-in
Huddles of civilization,
The dark backdrop of sky is
Riddled with stars.
They look to me like an enclave
Of individuals: each one vibrant
(Even if not so bright)
As the next;
Their twinkling moments
Often come in waves of
Synchronicity.
In other words, it is apparent
That they are separate and
At the same time
Infinitely connected.
Imagine for a moment that this
Night sky is a mirror of all the
Multitude of shining, creative
Folk all over the Earth.
And imagine that while they are
Clearly as varied as their number,
They are as clearly and
Infinitely connected.

I was the non-tall kid in my grade school
And my stature has never really changed much
In comparison with my peers.
So each time I get a retail coffee, I ask
For a “tall”, hoping beyond hope that
Today will be the day.

As the light changes with
Evening, it invites
My eyes to dim
In harmony with it.
Today, I accept
The invitation and
Go the way of a
Setting sun.
