creative fix
I’ll never be too old for sidewalk chalk!

I love all the color in this photo. Especially all the red. The brand new ipad with its special red cover was waiting for me when I got back from PA this time. The vibrant red tulips and daffodils picked from our garden. The ipad happened to get set down next to the flowers and it really hit my eye. The promise of Spring and the challenge of learning about something new. When I took the photo, I didn’t expect that the red-patterned cover on the bench in the background would show so much.
Why do I love red so much in the world, but not so much to wear and rarely to paint with?
There was something
I was supposed to do right now.
And suddenly, as the real “now”
Takes over from the anticipated
Now,
I realized that the actual something I’m
Supposed to…
Wanting to…
Desiring to…
Melting into…
Is just holding your hand.

And so it is that the adjective I would use to describe my jewelry right now is elusive.
The pieces have been cut, filed, sanded, and lined up in a tray. That is not my usual and I thought it would be a great way to be more productive when I do have time to be at “the bench.”
But the pieces stare at me every time I pass by and seem to call out like old friends I keep avoiding; friends I truly like and just don’t seem to be able to make time for.
This is starting to disturb me, concern me, and annoy me. (It is also creating some negative self-talk which we all know leads to no good!)
Why is it that many fall into this trap? We say we love something, know we love doing it, and then don’t do it? Even this blog is being written instead of making a piece of jewelry.
Just for this moment I am going to give myself a break and celebrate the noticings and get ready for a week of creativity.
Stay tuned.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
