Recycle, Reuse, Resale

I have been saving so many pieces of metal at my jewelry bench. With silver going up and up in price I have not been able to throw anything out.  Bits and pieces of scraps are everywhere!

Now that I am using my jeweler’s saw again, some of the pieces are actually looking like something identifiable and might be worth saving to recycle into another piece.

Today I started playing with the reuse idea and am liking some of the results.

Here is one. Let me know what you think.

Or better yet, see us at the COTA fest and come hang out in our booth!

Poem 0171 (for Anita): still

My feet drop from the bed onto the floor.still
Even the wooden planks are chilled in the darkness
Of the morning.
My longing heart calls out for light,
So I close my eyes to remember that the darkness
Starts from inside.

Tender with barely awakeness,
I hover for a moment at the top of stairs.
Something awesome is arriving.
This day (like every day) is inviting me
Into its newness.

tomato humor

from our garden

Three tomatoes are walking down the street

– a poppa tomato, a momma tomato, and a little baby tomato.

Baby tomato starts lagging behind.

Poppa tomato gets angry, goes over to the baby tomato, and squishes him…

and says, ’Ketchup.’

Poem 0170 (for Anita): nature’s power

Posted by Stan Stewart (Sawyer) on August 23, 2011 under Stan Stewart | 3 Comments to Read

Since Thursday, nature has been boldlyLightning Strikes Tree
Requesting my attention.
It was Thursday when lightning ripped a whole
In the tall pine tree next to the house.

The rip went from top to bottom.
Bits were strewn everywhere across the yard
And up on the roof.
A board in the fence was broken.
The garage door opener no longer works.

Nature has power.

Today, in the throes of my workday,
My desk chair suddenly wobbled in that
Telltale way. It was as if the whole world
Was shaking
underneath me.
At least the little bit of it near enough by
To cascade into my legs and the legs of
My chair.

I knew that sensation from 1989.
So long ago and so recent.
Oakland. Bridges and freeways
Came down that day.
Today, as I understand it, there
Was less drama, but no less of an
Attention getter for me.

Nature: you have my attention.
I believe that you have power.

Thank you.

I love you.
